From the parking lot, I took the PG&E trail to its end then looped back on the Upper High Meadow then High Meadow Trail for a total distance of 6.4 [mi]. The PG&E trail is a steady climb from the parking lot and has increasingly excellent views of the whole bay area. It was clear enough on the day I went that I could (barely) see SF 35 [mi] away.
There were a lot of people at the park, so I wouldn’t go here if you’re seeking seclusion. But it is close, offers enough of a climb to get the blood flowing, and has nice views so I’ll go back. Also, the trails are immaculate so it would be a perfect place to run (there were a lot of joggers around).
