Castle Rock State Park is near the intersection of Route 9 and Skyline (A bit south on Skyline). I took the Saratoga Gap trail out to the campground from the main parking log, and the Ridge trail back. The former had epic views for the second half, and the later was nice but didn’t have the views of Saratoga Gap. Neither were very hard, although the Saratoga Gap trail has some skinny areas with steep drops on the view side. Here’s a picture taken on the Saratoga Gap trail.
The only downside to this hike is the shooting range within earshot when within 1/4 - 1/2 miles of the campground. It is a small downside, and it won’t stop me from doing this hike again. It was beautiful, and reminded me of the scenery in the Adirondacks where I grew up.
